The HFGK was founded in 1973 and the INGO in 1980. In the beginning
we started exploring the caves of the Suabian Alb which is still one of
our major working areas.
But we are also active all over Europe, mainly in the Alps, France and
Sardinia. At the moment a big cave diving project in the Suabian Alb -
the Wulfbach Resurgence - has yielded a considerable amount of virgin passages,
making it the longest cave of that area. The total length stands at more
than 6.2 km.
Other major cave diving projects of our groups are Fontaine de Ressel in
the french Dordogne, the Schwarzbach Resurgence in the Bavarian Alps and
underwater caves of Sardinia and Krk. Foreign cavers who intend to visit
the Suabian Alb and need some information on the area are encouraged to
contact Jürgen Bohnert
or Rainer Straub
